Exams in Transition: Designing Quality, Fair, and AI-Enhanced Assessments
Exams are often the cause of sleepless nights not only for students but also for lecturers. The responsibility that teachers take on as examiners is great, and the anxiety that comes with it is often particularly high for new lecturers.
Therefore, this workshop will focus on the following questions
- What are the functions of different types of exams?
- What do I need to consider when preparing, conducting, and evaluating an exam?
- How can I design an exam that meets test quality criteria, is legally sound, and is fair for both students and examiners?
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of different exam types in relation to competence orientation?
- How can AI (Artificial Intelligence) be leveraged to streamline exam design and support teachers in the examination process?
- How should AI competencies be incorporated as new learning objectives, and how can these competencies be effectively assessed in exams?
Learning Objectives:
- Apply the taxonomy of learning objectives to create a solid foundation for evaluation.
- Understand the advantages and disadvantages of different types of exams.
- Use test quality criteria to avoid errors during exams.
- Consider important legal aspects of exam design.
- Recognize and reflect on AI literacy as a new learning goal for students.
- Utilize AI applications to facilitate exam preparation and evaluation.
- Develop strategies for assessing AI-related competencies in exams.
