[DiL kompakt] AI in Higher Education Teaching: Opportunities and Challenges

Tools of artificial intelligence (AI)are becoming increasingly important in higher education teaching. Chatbots like "ChatGPT," translation tools like "Deepl.com," or media design tools like "DALL-E" can be used to address study and teaching tasks. AI has tremendous potential for teaching and learning, but its use also raises a series of pedagogical and ethical questions. In this compact seminar, participants will be introduced to the topic of Artificial Intelligence in education and will learn, discuss, and reflect on the opportunities and challenges it presents.

  • How can artificial intelligence support teaching? 
  • Examples of the use of artificial intelligence in higher education teaching 
  • Challenges and ethical questions related to artificial intelligence in higher education

Learning objectives
After the seminar, participants will be able to...

  • Identify the opportunities and challenges of AI in higher education teaching
  • Utilize some AI tools for higher education teaching
  • Evaluate approaches to handling AI-generated student work

Methods

Lecture, group discussions, practical group work, discussion of results.
