Closing Academic Presentations Skillfully & Handling Tricky Q&A Sessions

This webinar provides you with training in closing academic presentations impactfully and in skillfully handling tough question and answer sessions. To begin, you will learn a range of techniques for leaving an echo in your audience’s mind, as well as how to avoid common mistakes when ‘summarising’ your findings at the end.

We will then move on to techniques for handling the challenging and at times pressurized situation of standing tall in the line of fire during the all-important Q&A section of presentations. After first discussing what types of situations may arise and what types of responses might be the most effective, we will move from the theory to the practice and engage in ‘hot seating’, where we will take it in turns to handle a range of questions in small groups. This will provide us with training in using the ‘D8’ system to deal with this challenging situation. By the end of the seminar, you will be able to close your presentation memorably and have greater confidence in responding to any type of question from future academic audiences.
