Training of e-tutors to support teachers in the use of digital teaching-learning resources
This comprehensive seminar is specifically designed for student assistants who support professors in digitally supported teaching. It helps student assistants learn about the many possibilities of digitally supported teaching and then implement them together with the instructors. The range of digitally supported elements can be very broad:
- Teaching concepts (inverted classroom, peer instruction, constructive alignment, and much more)
- Videos (planning, recording, editing, publication in the ZHL video studio, with H5P, Davinci Resolve, ...)
- Learning objective checks (quizzes, interactive videos, tests such as H5P, Moodle tests, mentimeter, etc.)
- Collaboration (design of online platforms for collaboration such as mural, miro, perusall, etc.)
- Learning materials (quick access for all students to learning materials e.g. in e-learning, etc.)
- Use of artificial intelligence (AI) for the design of digital materials and learning processes
During their training, students acquire knowledge about the use of digital resources in teaching. They gain an overview of teaching and learning formats and the possible applications of various methods in combination with digital media and technologies. They are familiar with the respective advantages and disadvantages and can use the most important technologies and media. They are able to advise interested teachers on selecting suitable media, technologies, methods, and formats for the respective course. The e-tutors support the teachers in preparing and conducting the courses. The e-tutors are aware of copyright issues. Since 2023, we have also been providing training in the use of AI for the above-mentioned purposes. The focus is primarily on supporting teachers in the background, but support for synchronous teaching is also possible.
The skills of e-tutors after training in keywords:
- Advice on the selection and design of digital teaching and learning processes
- Co-design and expansion of courses with digital elements based on current university teaching findings
- Production of instructional videos (including screencasts, studio recordings, video editing, experimental videos) and their integration into Moodle (e.g., via Panopto or interactive H5P elements) [optional]
- Advice on copyright issues
- Expansion of support options in the teaching process
